Italian government confirmed Saturday that it had agreed with Libya’s Government of National Accord on a textbook that compels both countries to combat the growing numbers of illegal migrants by taking the necessary measures to stop those crossing the Libyan waters to Europe and particularly to Italy.
The agreement, the Italian news agency Aki said, also aims at reducing the amount of human tragedies such as drowning.
The Italian government also said that it agreed to form a joint committee with Libya as well as a joint operations room to monitor the flow of migrants to Europe and try to stem it.
