Ammo depot blast kills at least 25 in Garabulli
At least 25 civilians have been killed in an explosion at an ammunition store in Garabulli, officials have said.
The blast took place in Garabulli (50km east of Tripoli) after clashes between the residents and the forces positioned in the district.
The store was under control of an armed group from the city of Misurata, but the group had left the depot after clashing with local residents, the officials said.
The coastal road was completely blocked and a mix of armed civilians and local militias from the coastal town were manning checkpoints on the edge of the town along the coastal road.
Cars trying to pass through were being searched but it was not clear for what.
The situation is very tense, says Miftah Ali, the Libyan News’ correspondent.
